- 6:30 AM Morning Walk — Sumida Park
Cherry blossoms along the river, Skytree views across the water. Get outside early — rain arrives this afternoon.
- 7:15 AM HATCOFFEE
Specialty coffee near hotel. Good morning start.
- 8:00 AM Ueno Park Cherry Blossoms
2 metro stops from Asakusa. Cherry blossom peak — legendary for hanami. Stroll Shinobazu Pond, enjoy the outdoor beauty while it's still dry.
- 8:30 AM Ameyoko Market Breakfast
Street food market south of Ueno Station. Covered market — works in any weather. Grab something on the go.
- 9:30 AM Tokyo National Museum
Japan's most important museum — samurai armor, ukiyo-e prints, Buddhist sculpture, swords. Budget 2-2.5 hours. Honkan (main building) is the priority. Perfect rainy afternoon activity.
- 12:00 PM Shitamachi Museum
Right by the park exit. Tiny, cheap, charming — recreated Edo-era shops and homes you can walk through.
- 12:45 PM Lunch near Ueno
Many options around the station area. Stay dry in the covered arcades.
- 1:45 PM National Museum of Western Art
Le Corbusier UNESCO building. Rodin sculptures in courtyard, Impressionists inside. ~1 hour. Rain or shine, this building is stunning.
- 3:00 PM Yanaka Neighborhood
Walk 15 min north of Ueno into old Tokyo. Temple-lined streets, Yanaka Cemetery (beautiful with blossoms), "cat street" with cat-themed shops. Covered shopping street at Yanaka Ginza.
- 4:30 PM Hagino-yu Sento
Tokyo's largest sento. 4 bath types, restaurant on-site. Uguisudani area, walkable from Yanaka. Nothing better than a hot soak on a rainy day.
- 6:30 PM Dinner in Yanaka or Asakusa
Yanaka Ginza shopping street has casual food spots.
Tips
- Rain starts this afternoon — front-load outdoor time in the morning
- Tokyo National Museum is the #1 must-see — don't rush it
- Yanaka feels like stepping back 50 years — the covered Yanaka Ginza is great in rain
