Itinerary

  1. Cherry blossoms along the river, Skytree views across the water. Get outside early — rain arrives this afternoon.

  2. 7:15 AM HATCOFFEE

Specialty coffee near hotel. Good morning start.

  3. 2 metro stops from Asakusa. Cherry blossom peak — legendary for hanami. Stroll Shinobazu Pond, enjoy the outdoor beauty while it's still dry.

  4. Street food market south of Ueno Station. Covered market — works in any weather. Grab something on the go.

  5. Japan's most important museum — samurai armor, ukiyo-e prints, Buddhist sculpture, swords. Budget 2-2.5 hours. Honkan (main building) is the priority. Perfect rainy afternoon activity.

  6. Right by the park exit. Tiny, cheap, charming — recreated Edo-era shops and homes you can walk through.

  7. 12:45 PM Lunch near Ueno

Many options around the station area. Stay dry in the covered arcades.

  8. Le Corbusier UNESCO building. Rodin sculptures in courtyard, Impressionists inside. ~1 hour. Rain or shine, this building is stunning.

  9. Walk 15 min north of Ueno into old Tokyo. Temple-lined streets, Yanaka Cemetery (beautiful with blossoms), "cat street" with cat-themed shops. Covered shopping street at Yanaka Ginza.

  10. Tokyo's largest sento. 4 bath types, restaurant on-site. Uguisudani area, walkable from Yanaka. Nothing better than a hot soak on a rainy day.

  11. 6:30 PM Dinner in Yanaka or Asakusa

Yanaka Ginza shopping street has casual food spots.
