Itinerary

  1. 7:30 AM Meiji Shrine

    25 min metro from Asakusa. Arrive early to beat crowds. Walk through the towering torii gate and forested path.

  2. Inner garden. Iris garden and serene woodland.

  3. 9:30 AM Yoyogi Park

    Adjacent. Spacious and beautiful. Cherry blossoms.

  4. Ukiyo-e woodblock prints. Small, focused, excellent. ~45 min.

  5. Harajuku's fashion corridors. Sensory overload, fun to people-watch.

  6. 12:30 PM Lunch in Harajuku/Shibuya

    Many options in the area.

  7. See the famous crossing from street level. Touch the Hachiko statue.

  8. 2:00 PM Shibuya Sky

    Rooftop observation deck — book ahead. Outstanding 360° views.

  9. Metro to Shinjuku. 58-hectare garden with Japanese, French, and English sections. Check blossom-season extended hours.

  10. Free observation deck, 45th floor. Sunset views. No ticket needed.

  11. Shabu-shabu at MO-MO-PARADISE or ramen near the station.

  12. 8:00 PM Golden Gai

    Tiny alley of 200+ micro-bars. Atmosphere and architecture worth a walk-through even without drinking. Some serve coffee/soft drinks.

Tips

  • This is the biggest walking day — trim Golden Gai or Shinjuku Gyoen if flagging
  • Book Shibuya Sky tickets in advance online
  • Tokyo Met Gov Building sunset is free and uncrowded
  • Taxi back to Asakusa from Shinjuku is totally fine if legs are done (~¥3,000)
